Materials & Care

Always store your jewellery individually, ideally in its Kuopendy soft-lined box or pouch, to avoid rubbing, scratching or tangling. When storing diamonds, special care should be taken to ensure that they do not collide with one another. Remember to maintain your chains as well.

They should be fixed so they don't become twisted.

Do you live in a humid climate? To assist avoid tarnishing, keep your jewellery in a tiny package of desiccant crystals.

Keep your gold vermeil and silver jewellery in a dark, cold, and dry area. Sterling silver will naturally oxidise and tarnish with time and wear.

When not in use, put silver jewellery in a sealed plastic bag or airtight box to keep out the air that causes oxidation. Wearing your jewellery frequently helps slows the oxidation process. If your jewellery is stored for an extended length of time, periodic cleaning is suggested to retain lustre and prevent oxidation.

All of our Kuopendy sterling silver jewellery is rhodium plated, which keeps the silver from deteriorating over time.

Your jewellery is especially vulnerable to chemical harm from perfume, hairspray, make-up, nail polish remover, body oils, sun tan lotion, and deodorant.

Keep jewellery out of direct sunlight since prolonged exposure can cause many gemstones to fade and lose their colour. Some gemstones that can grow paler when exposed to sunshine include amethyst, rose quartz, chalcedony, and smoky quartz.
